Ellie Neilsen is an experienced professional artist, well known for her printmaking and for her colourful acrylic and gouache paintings.

In 2003 she re-located to near BRISBANE after 40 years of working in isolation in
rural Queensland. This has strongly influenced her work, both choice of medium,
and subject matter.

In 1995 she won a CORPORATE FELLOWSHIP to attend Luis Camnitzer’s master
printmaking workshop in TUSCANY, ITALY.

She is represented in the Queensland State Library, The Queensland College of
Art, Queensland Regional Galleries, and Queensland Regional Council Collections.

of her work.

Ellie is represented in collections in FRANCE, ITALY, and USA, has exhibited with
ARTPLUS in SINGAPORE, and with IMPRESS PRINTMAKERS, BRISBANE, both in
AUSTRALIA and OVERSEAS.

Her work is well represented in ARTISTS BOOKS and FOLIOS – Diversity along the
line by Rockhampton Regional Art Gallery; on a Roll – Impress Artists, Brisbane;
The Flying Arts Book by Flying Arts Inc., Queensland. She also has work in book
plate collections in Belgium, France, Poland, and Australia.

In 1994 and again in 1999 Ellie was recognised by the BANANA SHIRE COUNCIL
with AUSTRALIA DAY AWARDS FOR SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY.
Ellie worked for 11 years as a member of the RADF committee, Banana Shire, four
years as president. She has also worked for 2 years with the Caboolture Shire
and is currently on the Moreton Bay Regional Council committee. Ellie also served
for 1 year on the peer group assessment board for ARTS QUEENSLAND.
For 28 years Ellie was an active member of FLYING ARTS AUSTRALIA, spent 3
years on the management board and has been profiled both in their Gazette and
on Internet.

In a STATEMENT about her work Ellie says, “ My work is mainly inspired by the
world around me, but I choose to make images from an internal vision of what I
perceive is this world. The result is a mixture of reality and fantasy seen with
much humour and love of life. I move from the sublime (religious paintings) to the
ridiculous (bunyip series ) and all levels in between. My greatest desire is to bring
joy and laughter to all who see my work.
